Project Overview
The company had spent 2.6M on developing a social media platform that was supposed to allow the archival and display of moments and filtered by Topic, Time, and Location. However, this system was never completed. Originally built on a Drupal system with a mongo database the system did not function, and could not scale. We were requested to take over the software development and modernize everything from the user interface to the mobile applications.
Execution
Over the course of three years, we completely re-envisioned the platform with multiple features that were not originally thought of. We created a mobile application that created moments on the fly, and allowed the integration of pre-populated templates that gave the viewer a front seat to that moment in history.
We converted the system from a PHP platform to a complete microservices architecture. Each moment was then connected to an IoT (Internet of Things) system so the moments came alive as users triggered geofences.
Results
The client went from having a non-performing platform to an infinitely scalable microservices platform that has applications in multiple areas.
