Smart Cities

Why should you establish a smart booking system for your community?

The answer can be found by looking at some of the most successful companies on the internet today. A french company www.doctolib.com offers booking for 35 million patients and 135,000 health care practitioners. AirBNB is another success story allowing anyone to offer a room and travellers to book a room, and with the recent pandemic they now have the ability to book an experience and deliver it virtually using Zoom.

So what’s the difference between a smart booking system, and trusted pen and paper.

The difference is that throughout the world, mobile phones with multiple apps are available for online booking. Curb-side pick up, has become part of the vernacular, where you can message your service provider, and they will bring your product to your vehicle.

Modern booking system allows 2-way communication between the booker and the service provider, providing automated reminders, automated check-in, and automated follow up. Smart booking systems interact in real time with a small transmitter called a Beacon, installed at the service providers location. During Covid, there is clear benefit for having automated check-in with touch-less being the key word.

When most people think about booking systems, they think about booking an appointment with their hairdresser,  doctor or their child’s teacher.  When we think about booking, we think about booking for an entire association, a community, or a neighborhood using single sign-on, or social sign-on.

Why is this important?

Because some of the largest companies in the space have grown exponentially, by removing the friction from the booking process and delivering the services in line.

So what’s the difference between a smart booking system, and the booking system that restaurant up and using for 100 years with pen and paper?

The difference is that throughout the world, mobile phones with multiple apps are available for online booking. Curbside pick up has become part of the vernacular, where you can message your service provider, and they will bring your product to your vehicle. Our booking system allows to wait communication between the person booking the appointment, and the service provider, providing automated reminders, automated check-in, and automated follow up.

It works by allowing the consumer, if they so choose, to interact in real time with a small transmitter called a beacon, installed at the service providers location. During Covid, there is clear benefit for having automated check-in, because, similar to applications for automated and touchless check-in at hotels, there are clear health benefits. However, service provider have to be sensitive about privacy issues. Some consumers will not want to have their attendance tracked.  So applications, and websites must give individuals the ability to delete their foot prints.
